Hi Steve.

I have heard it is beautiful, and would be interested. Can it be done as a daytrip? I am not much of a camper.

I've had friends camp there, rainy weekend but they said they would go back. I believe that this is in the book, Kayaking Coastal Mass. I will look it up tonight at home. I would be interested in the trip.

I found this article about kayaking Wacouit Bay and circumnavigating Washburn Island (sort of). It definitely sounds interesting but it's a wonder the person who wrote it even likes to kayak.

Check it out.

Cripes... and I thought I was paranoid

Kayaking Coastal Massachusetts has it "a must-do for kayaking Cape Cod."

My friends did go, it didn't rain, they had the island to themselves except for 2 Bard Owls all night. They loved it.

Shallow protected waters in the bay, more exposed water and Nelson-like conditions in the Sound. 3 natural areas, more flora and fauna, good fishing, "best off season."

A lot of cove and inlets, sound like a weekend full of adventure.

Where kayakers camp today, native americans once fished and hunted. The Mashpee Wampanoags, the "people of the first light," claim their people lived at Waqouit Bay "since time.'

I would be interested.

Around the corner and a few miles up the coastline is another place that looks like fun - Osterville Grand Island.

Osterville Grand Island.

This is also listed in Kayaking Coastal MA.

I think we need to put them all on a list and check 'em off one by one.

We should probably paddle to them, too :D

Sorry, I'm bored.... waiting for my wife to pack her duffle bag for the weekend... not that there's room for it, now that I've packed everything else.
