If anyone is interested in lessons this season

Post by Johnysmoke »

I'm going to offer instruction on my own this year. For anyone from the beginner looking to learn basic strokes and some good rescue techniques, to more experienced paddlers looking to expand their comfort zone in rough or moving water, I can work with you to get the most out of your paddling experience.

I have three plastic boats (P&Hey Delphins) available for use if anyone wants to go that route, these boats are great in the surf zone and rock gardens. Or for any beginners looking to try out sea kayaks for the first time, it's a very reassuring boat that is comfortable and easy to paddle.

I will also be offering youth sessions (with the help of a friend's wife who is a teacher). If you know of anyone who maybe interested in learning how to paddle, or has children interested in paddling, I can get them out for a day of fun on the water and would appreciate the reference.

Thank you!

I did a surf class with you a couple years ago, and I'd definitely be interested in doing that again if you run it. Or rock gardens. I might take you up on the plastic boat offer before I'd tear up my new boat.

Pat, if there is enough interest for a group we could get 3 more people, otherwise we can get out for a private lesson whenever is convenient for you. Let me know what works for you, the water is still freaky cold so immersion gear is a really good idea.
I'll put a schedule together this week.

Thanks, John. I'm really not interested in getting out until I can do it without immersion gear.

After this bitter winter, it just might take that long.

John,
I'd also be interested in getting back out to the spit with you to learn more surfing skills.

Hi Tortoise,
Sorry I can't remember your name off the top of my head, I want to say Nancy but forgive me if I'm wrong.
I do remember you and your Alchemy S, and that you bought a lot of good safety gear and clothing. I hope you've been enjoying the Alchemy, I think it's a great boat, very comfortable and fun to paddle. I'll be around in June, I'm not sure about Thursdays but I'm sure we can find a time that works. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

Hi John
I'd be on board for a small group, I have reasonably good paddle technique, but I usually stay away from the rough water when ever possible. I have a dry suit / wet suit, so May June is okay.
