Cohasset Monday the 11th...

Post by Johnysmoke »

Going to go out to Minot's light to see the seals, then paddle to Hunter Island or possibly Nanstasket beach, on the return hit Little Harbor to play in some current on the outgoing tide. Getting on the water around 2:15 or 2:30ish. Water is getting a little cooler, so appropriate clothing is recommended...

Lorrie and I are heading down to Cohasett for some current play, rescue practice and rolling in Little Harbor Monday. High tide is 2:30pm, so we'll be inside till 3-3:30. Depending on energy and interest, current play could continue on the ebb. Maybe see you later in the afternoon.

I successfully cleaned the dust off of my longboat with Lorrie, Phil, & John. Unfortunately my longboat skills still have some rust! John & I met Phil & Lorrie inside Little Harbor just before the slack, got to practice some easy eddy maneuvers and ferries.

Little Harbor on an outgoing tide is fun, I have to figure out how to keep my boat pointed in the direction that I want while crossing swirly eddylines. I flipped a couple of times after losing my angle and getting blasted, another excuse for much needed rolling practice in that boat.

I'm still more comfortable in a boat about 10' shorter...

I should have brought my camera to get proof of Chris in the longboat once again, that its being used for more than just a drying rack. You looked comfortable cruising around in that thing considering how often you paddled it this season. We'll have some "this is the sea" action going on before you know it man, maybe check out new inlet next time around...

I can testify; Chris was in a long boat. Though Lorrie and I left before seeing him go upside down. We drove by on the way out around 5:30. Looked like you were still out there John. First time I've seen the wave train go from the ocean to the bridge on the ebb.

My knee was sore & stiff me on Monday. I have to adjust the outfitting so that I'm hitting the braces on my thigh & not the knee cap.
