Re: Paddling 10/2
The weather guy just said 20mph winds with gusts of 35 for tomorrow and 70 percent rain for the morning. Not looking too good at the moment. I'll be on standby in case things change. I guess this gives me time to locate a wetsuit for the next trip - I'm up for 10/10 if anyone else is...

Re: Paddling 10/2
Jordan, the water temp is posted at 63-64 degrees. Do you think that is too cold to be paddling without a wetsuit? Looks like CRCK says you must wear them when water temp is below 60 degrees. I plan to get one but not by this weekend, especially since all the local stores are out of XL. As for our s...

Norm, start another thread for this. Would you consider doing it Monday 10/10? Next weekend is a family reunion of sorts for me so I'm out of pocket Sat/Sun. I would love to take this trip though.

Jordan, are you putting in off Morrissey? I'm interested and I think Rick and another friend will be as well.

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
Thank you all for joining. It was really nice to get to know you all a little more. Rick and I were happy we managed to keep up with our little boats - thanks for going easy on us.
I will get the trip report started tomorrow evening hopefully.

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
As long as Bea is driving to the launch we will be good. I'm sure we can make it work and fine tune the details tomorrow morning. Sorry you can't make it Chip.
Again, I can be reached at 617-592-6927 tomorrow morning if you run into issues.

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
Happy Friday all, Paul dropped out, so Ali will be shuttle driver and my truck will now go to the take-out. We have 8 paddlers and 8 boat positions using Norm's, Bea's and my vehicle, AND precisely 4 seats in Ali's car to shuttle us back. At the end of the trip I will swing Ali back to the gas tank ...

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
Norm, the games look to be from 2-5 PM, so we should be good. Also there are potential spots nearby, as you also pointed out on your map, that we could fall back on if we run into a block at Herter. You make a good point about being careful selecting a meeting place and the good thing is we will all...

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
Norm, I chose Herter Park as I did not think CRCK would like us taking up their spots. "A" does mark the spot I was thinking of! I liked the huge lot and figured we would have no issues there. There is supposed to be a boat ramp but I could not see it from google. You can however see a doc...

Re: Paddling Plans For Friday - 9/16/11?
I plan to hit the Tauton in the fall as well for leaf peeping. I'll be sure to post a trip if others do not. When given a choice I pick my travel trailer for the same reasons, but to get out there in the wilderness you sometimes need to leave the rig behind.

Re: Paddling Plans For Friday - 9/16/11?
Sounds nice and I too would like to explore that area, but I have to work this Friday. Say Norm, what do you think about this? I want to put in the Tauton River in Bridgewater and paddle down and all the way around (through the canal at slack tide) and back up the coast camping my way along. Have no...

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
Looking ok so far and we have a bit of wiggle room left. I'm less concerened about carpools than having the the correct amount of boat positions for pickup and shuttle seats. Remember there is plenty of parking on both ends. We should plan to have the boats unloaded by the gas tank by 8:00am so we h...

Ali, we have sitters for your boat so we can work you into the car shuttle trip. I think I may need to get a spreadsheet going to keep track of this event. It's great to see this level of interest.

Re: Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
Sue do you have J-bars to carry your boat? If so, I'm thinking you could simply move them to Ali's racks (the standard minivan racks J-bars easily connect to). Ali has a Thule Glide and Set (or something similar) that may be harder to move. If all true, Sue could watch the boats while we bring Ali b...

Charles River Run (backwards) Sunday Sept 18
If interested, I will be taking the following trip with two friends and we would love to have more join us. Put in at Morrissey Blvd boat ramp (near gas tank at 9:00am launch) there is plenty of parking. Paddle north around Castle Island, past the NE Aquarium and toward the locks almost beneath the ...

Re: Neponset River Sunday morning 9/11
We plan to put in at the parking lot that is just a short distance from the on ramp to Morrissey if you are going north on 93. It is across from Malibu beach. I hope it is not blocked off due to 9/11 security - if so, we will find anoter put in. I can be reached on my cell tomorrow at 617-592-6927. ...

Neponset River Sunday morning 9/11
I'm in the early stages of planning a trip for this Sunday morning(9/11) with a friend or two (permission slips still pending). Have not paddled the Neponset yet and thought since nothing else is posted in the trips section for Sunday I would post the trip for other WTP that may be interested. High ...

Re: Boston outer Islands trip report
For this trip my wife performed shuttle duty. We considered a few spots in Hull where we could leave a car overnight but I did not want to be thinking about my truck on the trip or come back to any issues. Going out of Webb is maybe 4 miles from my house so not too much to ask of the spouse.

Boston outer Islands 8/24-26/2011
For anyone interested - myself and two friends paddled out of Webb Park through Hull Gut to Great Brewster (about 5 miles in 90 minutes) on the morning of Aug 24th. We hit the Gut on outgoing tide - minimal boat activity meant it was somewhat uneventful. We camped two nights on Great Brewster. You c...

Re: Boston Harbor Outer Islands
Thanks for the replies. The DRC folks are awesome to deal with and very helpful. The particular permit I have allows for Great and Outer Brewster, as well as Calf. If weath...

Boston Harbor Outer Islands
Hello all, I'm new to this forum and somewhat new to kayaking, buying my first boat (Alchemy 14.0L) this spring. Mostly been a canoe or power boat guy all my life. I'm guessing I've paddled about 100 miles with friends around the harbor, Back river, Fore river, Taunton river and a few other spots so...
