Re: Cochrane Dam
You got it Chris... Hmm, probably high water only. Bunch of guides mention Class II for a few hundred yards below the dam, closest thing to whitewater to my house. Will have to swing on by and check it out in person. Mark, wasn't planning on running the dam, just the rapids below. Did run a dam in a...

I asked about a feather set, and all I got was, "Is he serious look?" Did help break the silence as I was staring at my xrays, hehe. Splint for three weeks and then back for a checkup. Doc mentioned paddling in April won't be a problem woohoO!

Any other paddlers deal with a dislocated and fractured finger before?
Seeing a specialist on Wednesday, anything paddling-specific I should ask him in regards to healing/recovery tips geared towards paddling?

Well, you can't beat free, and a good friend of mine is letting me use is Prijon Yukon Expedition. Should give me a little bit more speed than the Necky, and with a forward hatch, let me enjoy AMC and other ocean paddles without having to modify the Necky for more bow flotation. Ugh, I think I am no...

Thinking about adding to the fleet. The GF has taken a liking to the Manitou 13, and would like something other than the Epic V10S or a Discovery 169 to join her paddling on local rivers and lakes, but also want something for me to use in rougher water ocean races and general ocean paddling. V10S surfski in light chop
Finally got some time on the boat with the straight-faced chop that makes me do the hip dance on the surfski. Getting more comfortable, but sideways in this stuff with feet in and not paddling had me doing a low brace every 10 seconds or so. Brought the Manitou with me as well and gave that a shot f...

Update: Ended up with j-cradles. Why? Cheap ($80 EMS), able to solo load a bit easier, and was able to move the j-cradle farther off to the side than using a stacker. Took the surfski and the Manitouout to Tully Lake, and the setup seems to work great.

Time has come to think about how to carry both the surfski and the plastic yak on the roof. Right now, I've just been using the factory cross bars on the Subaru (made by Mont Blanc). Definitely need to practice in the soup. Easy surf sounds just about perfect for my current skill level. And looking at aerial photos, there appears to be a nice long run of soup.
