I hadn't logged on in a while and just saw this. I think getting everyone together would be a great idea! I'll have to keep an eye out to see if you plan something in the future. I'm a newbie here so I'd love to be able to meet some of you and learn from you as well!

BEGINNER'S CLASS @ L.L. BEAN IN MANSFIELD 10/12/08

I went to LL Bean the other night and was informed that they are having a beginner's instructional class on Sunday, one begins at 11:30am, the other begins at 2:30pm. It's the last weekend for the classes for the season. The class is $15, you sign up and show up early at L.L. Bean in Mansfield (new ...

Thanks. Not really needing one but figured if someone had one for sale I might be interested. I heard it's good to have an extra paddle so I thought I might look into it.

Oh I like the idea of a 1/2 skirt! Thanks for the info guys! :)

I'll let you know what I find. My kayak is a new model, just purchased it a few weeks ago. A lot of them that I had found were PRE 2006 so I figured they wouldn't work for me.

How do I pick out a skirt? It depends on the width of the cockpit right? Any suggestions for brands/stores? I looked up in North Conway this past weekend and was unsuccessful. I might just try to order one online if I have to. EMS and LLBean didn't have them.

Thanks for the help, as always!

Leisurely.... a lovely word for a beginner to hear! This might be a stupid question, but, do most kayakers use skirts? Is that the best way to stay dry? I splash myself sometimes and am trying to figure out the best things to wear, as far as reg. clothes go. I was unsuccessful in finding gear when I...

Oh boy!

Yes I've driven by part of it. My mother's taken a canoe trip with Canoeing Outfitters and she said it's great but you have to be careful b/c parts can be dangerous. I'd love to do it if people are interested. Do you think my weak beginner arms could do 12 miles? lol

Weedy water

Linda,

Just read this. So it's not worth going to the reservoir then? I don't want to have to deal with weedy water.

Squeezed it in this weekend!

Made it out for a bit yesterday. While the rain took a break, I stopped over to Lake Sabatia in Taunton. It was quite peaceful, since I was the only one out on the lake. Came across two beautiful swans, but made sure not to get too close. I hear swans can attack! Anyway, it was nice there, but lots ...

Thanks!

I'm from Raynham, have only been locally because I cannot carry it too far on my own as of yet. I bought a kayak a few weeks ago and have only been out a handful of times at the Nip in Bridgewater, plus I have not bought racks for my car yet. There's many places I'd like to go, I just can't carry my...

Looking for company

I just got a kayak recently and I refuse to put it away for the season! I'm new to this and looking to meet new people and have some company out on the water. Anyone on the south shore want to meet up and go sometime? (preferably during pleasant weather)

New Kayakers

Hello,
I am a new kayaker and I'm looking to find others to meet and kayak with. Anyone else new at this? It would be nice to find someone to go on trips with that's on the learning level so I don't feel so silly if I don't kayak very well!
