Looks like thunder here in Dover so I am out for tonight - have fun and stay safe.

Re: Sea Anchors?
Hi Dick, I have a couple of sea anchors from old 6 man liferafts that I junked after using for safety at sea demonstrations. They look about the right size for a kayak and you are welcome to one. They were (thankfully) never used. They are typical liferaft sea anchors, conical rip stop type nylon ab...

Re: Thursday Night Hingham Paddles
And I nearly made it but had a call that my new paddle (Epic Mid Wing, Burgandy Shaft) had arrived and by the time I got it it was too late to get to Hingham. It's just too nice to use! Now my boat needs a new engine to go with it! Looks like I missed a great evening - see you next time. Cheers, Bev.

Thanks for posting this - looks like fun and I am in! It would be great to have a few more WTP's there. I will be in Gloucester that weekend if anyone wants to paddle on Sunday also - warm up for the Blackburn?

Re: Anything like this for kayaks? Cape Cod Bay Challenge
I have sent an e-mail to the organizers asking if they will consider a sea kayak class. I would definitely be up for doing this - looks like a great event. I am doing the Blackburn Challenge again this year. I really enjoyed last year's race. It is a fun event and you do not have to be a top flight ...

Aruba??
Anyone paddled in Aruba? I am hoping I can find a place to rent a decent boat, so if you have any good info please let me know.
All I have found by surfing the web are organized tours and plastic beach sit on boats. I suspect I will enjoy the trip whatever though!

I will be there is spirit. Physically, however, I will be in Aruba with my son who wants to learn Kite Boarding! I will be paddling as much as I can there, but suspect it will all be on sit on beach barges.

Re: Costume Cruise on the Charles Sat Oct 31st
Hi, I have put in a few times at the Soldiers Field Road location. The kayak rental operation has nice docks which they let others use provided we do not get in the way of renters. Parking was not a problem for me, even in the summer when it was busy. Love the idea of the dress up! I am probably in ...

Hi Norm, Really sorry you could not make it today - we had a nice ride all the way down. Thanks for organizing the trip. Highlight of the day - trying Lora's Greenland Stick! I never thought I would like one, but was hooked on it almost immediately. How a bit of wood can be so light and efficient es...

Hi Norm and all,
Sorry to hear about the fire and hope you can still make it. I will be at the put in a little before 10 and as I paddle the river often am happy to point out the spots where rocks lurk. I can also do the shuttle.
See you tomorrow.
Cheers,
Bev.

Re: New site: paddleraces.com
Great idea! I started racing this year and it can be challenging finding out where races are taking place. I did the Essex River Race, the Blackburn Challenge, and the North River Race all in my CD Extreme and had a blast. I am surprised that more people who paddle for fun don't mix in some racing. ...

Great River Race Practice Run - Friday 7th
Anyone interested in joining me for a practice run on the course for the Great River Race (Aug 22). I plan to put in at Union Street (Canoe Launch on the Marshfield Side) this Friday (7th) at 12.30 and warm up for a few minutes then start the course at 12.45. Tides should be very similar to race day...

Hi Bea/Chris, I would love to get out tomorrow - Wollaston/Spectacle, something that way would be fun. Hi Lora, Forcast for tomorrow is currently very light 5-6mph) onshore winds swinging from NNE to SSE early evening. A webcam on the beach shows a flat ocean with very little wave activity so this might be a very easy beach launch. I can probably come tomorrow and if it looks uglier than expected we ...

Hi, I just joined about a month ago and just started paddling again after about a 30 year break. I go out 2 or 3 evenings a week on the Charles River, usually putting in at the South Natick dam. It is all flat water and very pretty. I am always happy for some company. Check out the recreational trip...
