Sippican Harbor/Bird Island Info. Request

Did a quick search and found a couple of trips from Wareham down to Sippican, which puts the trip in the 13-15 mile range. Was wondering if anybody has left from the town pier area in Marion (two dollar parking I believe) and headed out to Bird Island for lunch, and then back? Looks to be a 8-10 mil...

Yeah 8 weeks ago on the same boat, I couldn't turn my head on the Charles for fear of falling out, hehe. I think the pads made a huge difference though, didn't feel nearly as stable on the Plymouth trip the day before. Then again, this was consistent chop from one direction, not the every which way ...

And my bid for the W10 was rejected, a boo. Will be keeping an eye out for the generation or two older Optios, hopefully I'll be able to snag one. I don't think they are, but that goes for most paddleboarders. The surfski folks don't seem to wear them either, even in openwater ocean conditions with just one chase boat for the group.

I guess maybe that's why they aren't wearing them? Help is close in the form of the support boat?

Standup paddleboard anybody?

http://www.kenalu.com/2008/08/15/cape-c ... e-made-it/

Worth it for the photos alone!

I was in a race with somebody on a paddleboard, very freaky seeing what looked like somebody walking on water off in the distance.

Put a bid in on an Optio W10. While image stabilization is missing, figure if I can snag one for under $100, I am willing to compromise. Saw a fair number of paddlers who use the W10, and liked the photo and video quality I've seen online.

Fun in the waves at Ned's Point

Needing practice in the ski, headed out to Ned's Point down in Mattapoisett yesterday afternoon. Forecast had winds in the 15 knot range gusting to 20 out of the south/southwest. Perfect for getting a long fetch for Buzzards Bay. Nice 2-2.5 foot steep chop, with some occasial 3 footers rolling in, a...

Got the Garmin 76 Map, $11 more including the cable. Figured it was worth it for just $11 more. Ayup, don't have serial on the computer, but have a converter already somewhere in the Computer Parts Room of Doom, aka home office.

Definitely the ski, my current paddling technique in 2-4 foot seas is paddle-paddle-brace-paddle-paddle, so I am certainly not speedy...yet!

Anytime I can get out in the ocean at any pace is good for getting my balance down especially with paddling pals and a new spot to check out.

Leaning towards the Amazon deal with the serial PC connector, total is $130. I like it since it floats, has marine buoy information as well as tide information built-in. It looks like this Thursday's paddle is Hingham Harbor?

Weather looks okay at least for now. I have the day off, so will try to be there around 3ish to avoid the worst of rush hour traffic as long as at T-storms aren't bearing down on me.

Anyway, found this... Looks pretty decent. Doesn't give wave period though:

Hmm, looks like the forecast from NOAA on their interactive maps are saying 1-2 foot seas now for Saturday:

http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/wfo/se ... y.php#tabs

Does look like the wind will be fairly impressive though, so maybe those larger 3+ footers will sneak on in.

If the conditions are in the 2-3 foot range, I'll join you guys.
