Sippican Harbor/Bird Island Info. Request
Did a quick search and found a couple of trips from Wareham down to Sippican, which puts the trip in the 13-15 mile range. Was wondering if anybody has left from the town pier area in Marion (two dollar parking I believe) and headed out to Bird Island for lunch, and then back? Looks to be a 8-10 mil...

Yeah 8 weeks ago on the same boat, I couldn't turn my head on the Charles for fear of falling out, hehe. I think the pads made a huge difference though, didn't feel nearly as stable on the Plymouth trip the day before. Then again, this was consistent chop from one direction, not the every which way ...

And my bid for the W10 was rejected, a boo. Will be keeping an eye out for the generation or two older Optios, hopefully I'll be able to snag one. I sell some photos on the side to cover my DSLR lens lust, so now that I can actually stay (mostly) upright on my ski, getting the itch to bring somethin...

Standup paddleboard anybody?
http://www.kenalu.com/2008/08/15/cape-c ... e-made-it/
Worth it for the photos alone!
I was in a race with somebody on a paddleboard, very freaky seeing what looked like somebody walking on water off in the distance.

Fun in the waves at Ned's Point
Needing practice in the ski, headed out to Ned's Point down in Mattapoisett yesterday afternoon. Forecast had winds in the 15 knot range gusting to 20 out of the south/southwest. Perfect for getting a long fetch for Buzzards Bay. Nice 2-2.5 foot steep chop, with some occasial 3 footers rolling in, a...

...I donno. I'm worried about getting wet. Gotta watch out for that freshwater from the sky! I guess if saltwater is coming down from above, I might have bigger problems than just getting wet to worry about. Looking forward to this! Been a couple of weeks since I've been in the ocean, curious to se...

Chance of Thunderstorms , Chance of Light Rain Showers is the forecast. Looks like as the day goes on skies will clear, but that means t-storms in the afternoon with hopefully just a chance of showers in the morning. If the radar is clear of t-storms in the morning with maybe a spot or two of rain, ...

Anybody have a Garmin 72?
Leaning towards the Amazon deal with the serial PC connector, total is $130. I like it since it floats, has marine buoy information as well as tide information built-in. Also a bunch of audio alarms which would be nice in racing situations so I don't have to stare at the GPS all the time. Has "big d...

Thursday Hingham Paddle 8-07-08
It looks like this Thursday's paddle is Hingham Harbor?
Weather looks okay at least for now. I have the day off, so will try to be there around 3ish to avoid the worst of rush hour traffic as long as at T-storms aren't bearing down on me.
Anybody else planning on attending?

Thanks for putting this session together, spent some time underwater and with some more time I'm sure I'll figure out how to get out of the water , guess it is time to get a skirt for the Manitou 13. Getting faster at remounting the ski, but still need to learn how to launch outta the water and land...

I'll show up, but with a surfski to practice remounts and bracing. I've got a Manitou 13 that I would like to learn how to roll , but don't have a skirt for it yet. Any chance I could pop into somebody's boat that is "easy" to roll to give it a shot? Folks are more than welcome to see what a 19" wid...

Charles River Loop West Roxbury and Dedham
Ken posted a detailed trip report about passing through some of this area in spring, m. Here's a map of the loop: m I've done this loop probably close to 50 times over the years. Great way to see lots of diversity on the Charles with multiple free areas to park that are close to the river, and no ba...

Sorry for missing you guys! Totally my fault for leaving the house with only minutes to spare...and then getting lost! First and last time. In any case, thanks for the trip Chris. Sunday 7/27 Ned's Point/Mattapoisett Harbor
Going to make this weekend a double header in terms of paddling, as long as the weather holds. Will be heading on down to Ned's Point for the first time on Sunday, plan on being there at 10:00. Might do a lap or two of the harbor, fiddle with boat setup, practice some different remounts/work on weak...

Did some digging on the NOAA site. Since I worked for them a while ago you would think I would know about what they have to offer, but NOAA... Bah, different post.
Anyway, found this... Looks pretty decent. Doesn't give wave period though:

Hmm, looks like the forecast from NOAA on their interactive maps are saying 1-2 foot seas now for Saturday:
http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/wfo/se ... y.php#tabs
Does look like the wind will be fairly impressive though, so maybe those larger 3+ footers will sneak on in.
If the conditions are in the 2-3 foot range, I'll join you guys.

Awwww, agreeing to disagree! So what type of beer does everybody like after a paddle? I personally like the addition of the rec forum...
