WTB: Spray Skirt to Fit Necky Manitou 13
Finally going to put the Manitou 13 to use on easy whitewater, learn how to roll it, and probably use it as a surf machine. Wondering if anybody has a spray skirt that would fit? Deck opening is on the large side, 14.5"-16"x35"-37" depending on whose numbers you use. If not, any recommendations for ...

I've been part of the 24 mile relay in a (GASP) canoe for about 8 years now. Parking at the finish can be interesting, ie on the road since the lots fill up fast. Not positive of the first few miles of the 9-mile race, but I believe it is fairly open minus one narrow section right after the beginnin...

Only bid on one a while ago with a lowball "buy it now price" and offer was refused... Not in any huge rush, but hoping for a suction cup camera mount for Christmas, would like a waterproof p+s by the time April rolls around. Was thinking it might be kinda neat to use the interval mode (10 seconds t...

Cape Cod Surfing
Hit a few different places but the most fun I had by far was when the wind picked up on the bay. Road one wave in from out past the flats (probably 1/3 of mile) all the way to shore. Hit a max speed of 12.8 mph out in deep water, and the last twenty seconds or so at 7.2 mph with the paddle resting o...

Going to be right on the beach...WOOHOO! Anybody interested in coming down for a paddle? I'd be up for Monomy Island/rougher ocean conditions, but would prefer to go in a group setting for that. Should have a marine radio by then. Other than getting some fitness paddling in and paddling to Provincet...

Wave Weekend Practice 9/6 or 9/7
Looking to head on out Saturday or Sunday to practice balancing in some of the wind-driven waves (short periods, 2'-3', steep fronts) that will be happening this weekend. Prefer a spot that has an onshore breeze with winds from the NE, N and then W Sunday afternoon as Hanna passes, which eliminates ...

Duxbury Bay Texture Questions
Not ready to tackle the Wood's Hole area yet, but with strong winds building from the S/SW on Saturday, thinking it would make for some classic chop conditions, although the tide would be coming in (high is 4:40PM or so). Thinking heading to Powder Point Bridge and practicing in the chop Saturday ea...

Chris, didn't think about that! I have some bungies that are across what you might call the forward bulkhead. Could stick those legs down between them and have the camera peek over. Hmmm... Are you going to be at the practice session on Sunday? Like to see your setup in person if possible, and see i...

Yeah, video during the whole time wouldn't really work. It does offer time lapse though, which is somewhat rare in the p+s class: 10 sec to 99 minutes between shots until power runs out/runs out of memory. You can also set a time for shots to begin and the number of shots, along with timing between ...

NK, have you received your Optio yet? How do you like it as a new user? Still trying to figure out which way I should go. What like to get something over the next couple of weeks. As fall approaches, I want to keep paddling at least on flatwater and within 100 feet or so of shore. Think laps at Castle Island, near the bank on the Charles. Going to have the unique requirement of keeping my feet warm since they will be sitting in water with a few moments as water sneaks back in...

So, finally got my first GPS, a Garmin 76 Map. Pretty basic, but should do what I want it to do. Figured out how to use Google Map API sites to plot a route, and then import route into the GPS using some free software, kinda neat. Do folks make their .gpx files from Turkey trips available? Did a few...

Cool, thanks for the info. Been wanting to check out a long surfzone area now that I can stay up in at least 2-3 foot chop. I might be interesting in learning how to tackle getting through and coming back in on surf with the ski, with interest in an area that is long boat friendly in terms of rollers that don't form and break right on the beach, as well as a sandy bottom for the times I will be falling off... Sounds like...
