Seabrook Harbor "bowl"

Post by Beanboy »

Anybody been to this area for surf practice?

Been searching for spots to practice in soup/waves in as controlled conditions as playing in the waves allows, and came across this spot from NE Paddlers meetup page:

Descriptions sounds good:
"The Seabrook Harbor "bowl" offers a very safe place to learn basic kayak surf technique and boat handling skills in the surf zone. The "bowl" is shallow water and self rescue is very easy."

And the photos show small consistent surf:

I was there once about 4 years ago. It was really fun. I think you have to pick the right point in the tide cycle (which I don't recall), but there's some nice waves that form up just around the corner from the harbor entrance. Pretty safe, because the waves die down again when they hit deeper water, so you don't get slammed into beach. It's a fun area to explore. I am wondering why I haven't been back since!

Find Doug, Sal or Bill Harter (don't know his logon name) on the meetup group you link to. They're often there and can fill you in on the details.
