Hingham - Thursday, July 20

Post by pat »

Just starting the thread...

Temperature is supposed to skirt 100 degrees. Sigh. I have yet to make a Hingham Harbor trip, but that's pretty freakin' hot!

I know of at least one rec paddler that's interested in paddling around the inner harbor if there are other recreational boaters that would like to join him.

So are you going or not going. Most people go to the water when it's hot. I should be there.

I might be undecided. But I'm not sure about that.

Hi,

My name is Oz and I'm the rec paddler that Pat mentioned. My experience is only in lakes/rivers and my kayak is a Wilderness Pamlico 120 (not a sea kayak). So, I just want to paddle around the inner harbor and get a taste of sea kayaking. I'll be more than happy if at least I can get some advice/tips from the group before you guys go on with any trip you plan. Thanks!

Looking forward to meet the group tomorrow.

Looking forward to finally getting out in the salt air tomorrow. Any advice about dealing with the heat?

Count me in for Stars as well. Hopefully, Jordan will be in a power boat with a bull horn. Just kidding.

Is everyone taking off at 6pm?

Thanks for getting me up to speed.

I'm planning on meeting everyone for PPR and tear fest watching everyone arrive back at the beach

By 6 tomorrow the temps should be below 90, a great night to pop off a roll or two to cool off :D

See you tomorrow!

I've already paddled on July 20th, but I also plan to paddle on Thursday, July 21st.

I'll probably take off for a spin around the harbor as soon as I get there after work and then swing back to the beach at 6:00pm to see who else has arrived.

Also, I plan to go to Stars after paddling.

Jordan, we can cry together at water's edge. I have to do an airport run, and will not be back in Hingham until 8:00 pm or so. I know we all have to earn our PPR, but hope you all will let me in at Stars!

Hi all,

I will be there early tomorrow, I get out of work between 1 & 3. I will be going on a 2 week vacation
starting Sunday and would like to get out there before then. I have yet to paddle the ocean
and am interested in learning more about the harbor.

Oz, I will be your paddle buddy if you like, I haven't learned much yet and I've only been out
4 times all in ponds.

Count me on for PPR.

Bring extra water. Grab someones bow and take a dip to cool off if you can't roll.

Yeah, it was windy, but the waves were pretty small. It's always a pain when its blowing out too. We didn't try to circle any islands tonight. Stayed pretty close to shore. But we did get out there and paddle.

Just wanted to say Thank You to the group for letting me paddle with you last night and for all the advice. Special thanks to Karen who stayed with us, the less experienced paddlers.

I had a great time and I'm looking forward to future trips, as long as the group feels that it's OK for my smaller boat.
