Skills Thursday June 4th

Post by kayakerjnj »

Greetings all,

This week we have another skill session scheduled.

The water was reasonable a couple weeks ago and will only be warmer this week.

C'mon out and the rust off.

I'll be there around 4:30

Have a good week!

I'm going to miss these sessions - turns out both the ACL and meniscus are torn, and I'm meeting with the surgeon Friday. Miss you all. :(

I hope they sort this out quickly!!

See you there. I wonder if Venus 3 delivers. That would make the PPR tailgate dinner easy.

Their website does not say that they do. They also have not updated it in months.

I'm planning to be there at about 4:30 with Sharon and we'll be using rec boats this week. I wonder if it would be ok to tailgate in the Venus 3 back parking lot rather than at Kiwanee? I'm concerned Kiwanee will have more mosquitoes than a paved parking lot.

Since I had pizza last night, I'm just going to bring a sandwich and beverage for PPPP (Post--Paddle--Parking lot--Picnic)

Ken - your message reminds me that I've had pizza a couple times in the past week also so I think I'll try to think of a PPPP snack to bring also.

I like the PPPP idea. Maybe bring some bug spray or a citronella candle too...

I'll be bringing another Greenland paddler in a skin-on-frame. No pizza for me; I have to bug out as soon as we're off the water.

Adrienne - Welcome - Hope you can get there tonight - weather seems nice.

Eileen - I'm guessing we might be done at around 6:00 if the majority are getting there by 4:30. Hope to see you there.

It was beautiful weather in Hanson last night! Nice to have some new people joining the group. I hope everyone continues to participate. The PPPP worked out very well - didn't notice any mosquitoes. Wish I had remembered to bring my chairs. It'll be nice if we continue to get good weather on Thursday nights. I'd like the water to be a little warmer before I get back into the water and practice rescues. It was difficult trying to remember all the proper steps after missing so many weeks last year, so I know I need do my own practicing. I don't think I can roll right now, so I need to make sure I can get back into my boat by some other method.

Yes Norm I agree with you. It was a great night with new people, old friends and family in their rec kayaks. We should continue with PPPP. It worked out well and a nice ending to the skills night .

It would be great to see you Chip! Drag out some more of the other original Turkeys with you too. Might be like the old days that I've heard about where you had a little celebration in parking lots after paddles. Wasn't there something about "it's a twist off man".

Yes Norm, the original ppr was a beer at the cars after we loaded the boats up. Got tougher to do as we progressed so we started hitting up local establishments.
