Otay all!

Let's meet at the Summer Street Bridge - Put in

9:30 Sharp.

The earlier we get settled the sooner we can get paddling.

See you in the AM.

Change of Plan - Shuttling from Deans Plaza

Post by kayakerjnj »

After brainstorming with Skip we've decided to meet at Dean's Plaza @ 9:30 and shuttle using his trailer.

So far we have:

Allie
Chris
Barbara
Jordan
Norm
Skip

I will try to contact everyone to make sure we are up to date.

Sorry of all the confusion!

I'm backing out. I'm exhausted. Just got home from working a 15 hr day. Sorry! Maybe if anyone's up for something on Sunday/Monday? Sorry i'm a jerk and backing out but there's no way I'll be up and have energy going on no sleep. Have a blast!

Barbara - I had tried to see if I still had your phone # in my cell history at 9:30 but I didn't. By the time you called we were at the put in and my cell was in my car.

Next time we will have to exchange cell # between people.

It was a good paddle; just a bit of mud at the take out.

Sorry that you and Allie couldn't make it.

It was a great day on the water!

Skip, thanks for shuttling, it made life much easier :)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Should be perfect for more paddling too!

Still early, but there was some localized color along the river.

Leaves were steadily falling to the river, and in some parts had quite a bit of floating cover on the river.

Later in the morning / afternoon, there were plenty of turtles catching some lumens and gathering some BTUs

We didn't see any great blue herons today, but we did see some hawks along the way.

The weather was perfect today. First third of the river was like glass, and under the bridges we had some fun in the riffles.

Good stuff!

Jordan - Thanks for planning this trip and handling all the arrangements. I've got some good pictures that will back up your description of the day - I don't have time to post them tonight - I'll try to post them tomorrow.

I think Skip saw the one heron of the day when he sped ahead of us while trying out my paddle - he scared it off trying to get a picture of it.

Skip - thanks for bringing the trailer and simplifying the shuttling work.

Yes I did see one Heron but never caught up to it.

Thanks for planning the trip Jordan, it was really a worthwhile trip. Very calm, quiet and colorfull out on the river.

Here are a few of the pictures I took on the Taunton River Foliage trip on Saturday 10/11/08.

Leaves on the water.

Yellow foliage.

Red foliage

Chris leads the way through the "whitewater".

Isn't it nice how their boats match the foliage!

Don't upset the cows.

Some kind of hawk?

Image
Sneakin' up on a turtle.

Image
Skip takes the lead - I think it's the paddle.

Muddy take-out.

Norm,

For some reason the pics wouldn't load. Just the frames loaded.

I'm sure you got some great snaps yesterday.

The herd of black cows was pretty cool!

PS: Nevermind, must have been slow DSL LOL

I'll be on the ground tomorrow morning at O'Dark Thirty.

The car is loaded and I'm all set to see hundreds of fine looking Venison LOL

Of course if last year is a repeat the only way that will happen is if I send a photo to Kinkos and make 200 copies
