I'm ready to venture out for some water time!

Any suggestions for folks interested in a paddle this weekend?

I'm all ears and functioning shoulders :D

Jordan,
That's great! I could paddle either day, but it's probably best if you choose the trip since you know better how much stress your shoulder can take at this point.

I'd probably like to keep it to a 10 mile max for a first trip, beyond that I'm good. So if you have a preference or a hankering to go some place please sing out, I've been to most areas before so whatever you or whomever is up for this can feel free to throw out suggestions.

Minot, Plymouth Harbor, City point, I'm open to anything :D

Do these look like something that folks would like to do? I'm open to suggestions.

We can shoot for a 10 AM put in time, and go from there.

Hi Jordan,

I am around on both Saturday and Sunday, and free to go kayaking. Your trip suggestions both look good....

I'll keep an eye on the forum for updates!

Happy to hear you are "good to go"!

I DEFINITELY want to paddle this weekend (pickin's are getting slim). May be paddling Sat.already + can't do both days (Hubby will divorce me). Make your plans, of course, keep them posted... and if my paddle is cancelled I'll be there (on either day you paddle). Sorry to be up in the air... but thought knowing my interest and intention may be helpful.
Glad Your Back Jordan!

Plumb island sounds good to me, but probably a little soon. The shoulders are still under warranty  Still have a month of PT to complete, so I'm on probabtion :P

Sunday at this point is looking like the better of the two weekend days for weather.

Let's plan for Sunday.

It kills me to miss a trip, but I have to work Saturday and Sunday. I'm tempted to cash in a favor that one of my co-workers owes me.

Jordan - looking at your planned route, you may not be able to paddle over the sand spit between Thomson Island and Squantum unless you get there close to high tide. Bea and I paddled a similar route earlier this year.

Jordan,
Sunday sounds like a good choice to me, aside from the better weather, my husband will be home all day for our little guy.

Looking forward to this trip!

We have a couple of choices, either off Morrisey BLVD just as you get off the ramp on the right (this is the shortest put in, and parking is a breeze)

Or

We can launch from city point, and that has parking but a further carry to the water, and some times parking is tight depending on the weather and day of the week.

I'm a fan of the Morrissey BLVD location

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=42.305618,-71.046682&hl=en&num=1&t=h&vpsrc=0&z=19

Let's plan to arrive for 10 and launch by 10:30 AM

Can I put in a bid for paddling the Boston Harbor Outer Islands next weekend if the weather cooperates? Maybe Graves Light too. I'll post a trip mid-week if the forecast is good. Just want to put the idea out there to gather interest. I'd want to have a group of at least four paddlers. Think about it and enjoy your trip Sunday.

Norm, start another thread for this. Would you consider doing it Monday 10/10? Next weekend is a family reunion of sorts for me so I'm out of pocket Sat/Sun. I would love to take this trip though.

I'm sorry, I messed up. I just realized next weekend is Columbus Day weekend and we have an invitation to stay with friends in Maine. How's your schedule for the weekend of 10/15 - 10/16?

I can make it. I'm looking forward to it.

Norm,

I would be interested in the weekend of October 15th/16th.
I don't think you'll have a hard time finding 4 paddlers.
Will miss you this Sunday. I think you should cash in the favor with your co-worker.

Hi Steve,

Yes, the put in is right off of Morrissey. I posted a link in the reply to Linda's.

I don't think we had the pleasure yet of paddling together, but please make sure you and your buddies have attire for cooling water, and self rescue skills.

Looking forward to a great morning Sunday!

See you then.

We'll write you a note

As always we'd love to have you be part of the fun!

Yes, we need a new thread for the NEXT Outer Is. trip, tentatively 10/15 or 10/16...but will reply now anyway... I'd be "IN" for sure. I've been looking to do Outer Is ALL summer... had 3 or 4 other trips and all got cancelled or modified due to high winds to Inner Is (which I've done enough)... Hope I'm not the JINKS!

And you have your 4 paddles for October 15th/16th weekend.
See you Sunday.

Jordan, the water temp is posted at 63-64 degrees. Do you think that is too cold to be paddling without a wetsuit? Looks like CRCK says you must wear them when water temp is below 60 degrees. I plan to get one but not by this weekend, especially since all the local stores are out of XL.

As for our skills we all have wet exit skills and Norm can vouch for paddling with Rick and I just a few weeks ago (Morrissey to Herter Park).

Yup, I'll vouch for their paddling. We all handled some nasty washing machine conditions for a very long time that day.

The water temps never seem to be as warm as the surface water readings from the buoys. Please wear whatever keeps you comfortable. Most people making an unexpected wet exit at this time of the year, find it more invigorating then they planned for

Sorry Steve, I spaced out I forgot you and Norm had some major Texture together.

Looking forward to paddling with you and the gang!

Cheers!

The weather guy just said 20mph winds with gusts of 35 for tomorrow and 70 percent rain for the morning. Not looking too good at the moment. I'll be on standby in case things change. I guess this gives me time to locate a wetsuit for the next trip - I'm up for 10/10 if anyone else is...

OUCH!!! Forecast headed down for Sunday. Fog before 10 am, 70% chance of showers before 11 am, mostly cloudy, 15-18 mph winds with 34 mph gusts predicted by NOAA right now. I'm figuring there isn't enough Wheaties to pass around to do this paddle. I'll watch the board and forecast over the day.

Anyone up for an alternative paddle? Maybe Long Pond in Lakeville? I think if you paddle the perimeter, it's about 10miles. I have not done this trip, so I don't know the ins and outs, but just a thought in case we end up all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Where's the optimism???

I'm up for an alternate paddle if Jordan decides to cancel...I've already cashed in my favor to get the day off from work.

I'm still hopeful there will be a break in the bad weather though...

I'm all about optimism, and I will definitely be paddling somewhere tomorrow. I want to do the planned trip, but just throwing an idea out there in case......
Ooops, sorry Jordan, I didn't intend to hijack your trip or change any plans. (Just realized how this looks.) Please excuse my noob exuberance. I will shut up now.

I'm definitely looking to get on the water somewhere for something. Even if just some 'gusty' skills stuff somewhere.
I've done Long Pond in Lakeville but not in a while... can get as nasty there as the ocean at times depending on wind DIRECTION. I'm determined to get out some, for sure.
