This will be sort of like a Thursday Night "away game". I'd like to check out this new boat ramp, and since tomorrow's a Thursday night, it just all sort of works out. I talked to Chip and he'll be going, too.
My plan is to launch around (or soon after) 6pm. Sun sets at 8pm, so I don't see that as too much of an issue.
I know there's a contingency that likes to get going a little earlier, so if someone wants to bring a radio, we could meet up out on the water if you'd like.
Here's Gary's heads-up to the new ramp thread:

I'm not sure exactly where it is, but I'm sure I can find it. If someone wants to add a little geographical info, that'd be great.
I'm pretty sure it's here:

I think you got the right spot. It's on that street anyway. Pretty easy to see from the road.

I think I'll try to join you. I don't know if I'll be there early or late. I like the marine radio idea. What channel will you be using?
Re: New Weymouth Landing launch - 5/17 - after work
You used to use ch 69, right?

Yes, I think I have my radio set to scan for channel 69, 9, and 16.

Hey Ron, Did you finally get your rack figured out?

We had a nice paddle last night. It should be noted that the ramp designers didn't consider boats longer than 10'. The ramp is very steep, and unless the water is near low tide (and near or beyond the walls at the bottom of the ramp) you can only bring your boat straight in. So once the bow reaches where the ramp emerges from the water, the cockpit is still at an area about waist deep. With our plastic boats, Norm and I were able to grab the granite slab walls and pole our way up to a point where we could get out. Then Norm helped Chip and Ron (glass boats). Uber-short rec boats might have an easier time of it, and canoes will allow you to get out closer to the end of the boat. But it's definitely a challenge for sea kayaks.
A beautiful evening for a paddle, though.

To support Pat's assessment of the ramp width, here is a picture of my 15 foot long kayak at the base of the ramp with the tide still low enough to launch parallel from to the shore. It was much more difficult landing later in the evening, but I didn't take any pictures then.
And a picture from the water about 30 minutes later as the water starts to move up the ramp.
I'll do a little trip report with more pictures eventually.

Not perfect...but better than a seal launch off some rocks.
