4th of July Paddle Minot Light - Little Harbor?

Post by kayakerjnj »

Hi All,

In an effort to combat the Nation's obesity problem, we can all do our part and go for a Paddle on our Birthday, rather than pig out ALL day long on the 4th :D

I was thinking about an early outing for 4-5 hours and then we can join the cook outs already in progress in the afternoon.

Cohasset: Arrive at the boat ramp by 9:00 AM, Launch by 9:30 AM.

Paddle out to Minot, work our around the harbor, play a little then after noon time for those who still have time, take advantage of the Little Harbor into the early afternoon.

Open to suggestions;

Would like to get some activity in before the obligatory family cookouts

Stay cool!

Sounds like fun. I may bring my son with me. Shouldn't be too hot on the 4th...I hope.

How long and how challenging is this paddle likely to be?

Length can be whatever works for people, as well as the amount of play. Since the trip to Minot is terribly far nor is Little Harbor.

It's only 15 min paddle back from Little Harbor.

I have a cook out in the afternoon to eventually show up for so it won't be an all day deal.

2PM is when I need to get back in.

I might try to join you. What about parking? Isn't it problematic here?

I believe we still park behind the hall, and take the path to the ramp.

The last I heard that was off limits and they were towing there. Can anyone else confirm?

Then we can park at the end of Parker Avenue on the street.

Nope. You will get ticketed there. (I did, several years ago.)

You can park on Border Street, down past the Lobster Pound.

Jordan,

Were you able to paddle in Cohasset ok today? We sat in the rain at Wollaston Beach and chose to launch just as it started to clear. Got out to Spectacle Island just in time for the show. We watched it from the top where we could see everything including the planes and helicopters approaching from a distance. Got back to Wollaston Beach just as a little rain started to move back in.

Hope you had as good a day as we did. Steve, Abby and I are all planning to go to Hanson tomorrow. See you there.

Hi Norm,

We had a good day. A little damp to start, but quickly got warm and sunny.

Looking forward to seeing the gang in Hanson tomorrow.

Hope you had a fabulous day!!
