Saturday, 9/15 - Duxbury Bay

Post by pat »

Meet at Howland's Landing at 10:30, launch at 11:00. Route can be flexible, but probably across to Saquish, and from there, out to Gurnet Light or around Clarkes Island.

This is going to be an easier paddle than many that have been posted. I expect a moderate pace and a couple of stops along the way for lunch or knee and back realignment.

Guestimates:
10 miles
3 hours

Requirements: at least a 14' boat, sprayskirt and rescue skills. Ability to paddle at least 10 miles at 3mph.
Bring a lunch and the usuals (water, sunscreen, etc.)

For GPS users, "5 Howland Landing, Duxbury, MA" should get you there.

A cold front coming through is bringing some showers, but they appear to be petering out, and it should be long gone by launch time. Probably some breezes behind it that will give us a little texture. I hope that doesn't scare Jordan away. I know how he hates that stuff. :D :D

Felt weird to be home while everybody was out paddling. Hope you all had fun.

At least I didn't miss brownies with walnuts! Haven't had those in forever...

A friend spotted me from the water yesterday fishing from their boat. I went over to chat with them. They were catching schooly's. Nothing of substantial size when I was talking with them, but who knows how he did as the day progressed. They were biting though, all three of them were getting hits pretty frequently.

It was great to get on a real paddle again. I might get a couple of more in before the year is over.
