Sat April 30th Whale Watch Herring Cove Beach (Date Changed)

It will be that time again, to hopefully catch the beasties doing their thing.

The water will still be cold but if they are about and willing to give us a show, it promises to be another fun day.

Please plan on cold water attire along with all the other caveats. As this is still be in cold water season and the conditions can be "textured" this is not an appropriate trip for recreational or beginner paddlers (sorry).

Conditions will dictate whether or not the trip will go off as scheduled.

Plan on a 9:30 Launch Time

We'll see what the day brings, perhaps we can get a short paddle while we're on the watch.

Please RSVP, for all who will attend by Friday noon, the 29 th.

Thanks for a good day

We saw whales pretty quickly, at a distance at first and then some up close briefly.

Briefly only because some clown in a motor boat fishing basically came right up on them and then they scooted out of the area.

Still fun to see them.

A couple of brief videos with my GoPro catching them surfacing and such. Kris & Mark might have a few still photos that came out well.

It was a good day. Thanks for pulling it together.
The whale we reported as being tangled is probably free-we went out to the other side, and saw the rescue boat and a whale. We could even see the buoy that was attached to the poor whale, so we knew it was the one. After dinner, went back, and the boat was gone. Hope the whale is free...

I was able to view the videos, but in both cases, the speed dropped to very slow motion after about 10 seconds.
